I Cannot Hear The City

This is a beautiful, overlooked song from a show that I guess just didnt work, despite the talents involved. The key to its beauty is in the sometimes surprising notes of its bass line, which this arrangement helpfully provides, and some jazzy notes in the treble that somehow evoke the feeling of Manhattan of that period. Its one of Marvin Hamlischs best ballads, and more musically accomplished than much of his earlier, better-known work. With a fine lyric to match.

Good Arrangement

Great piece of music for singers. The lyrics slightly differ than those on the Original Broadway Cast Recording, but besides that its wonderful.
