Excellent version of a classic showtune
I purchased this piece to use as an audition piece for a summer theater camp, and I was not disappointed. Difficulty - A little above average. A good piece tenor or baritone with a strong voice. The piano can get difficult at points from the rhythms and a few jumps, but any decent rehearsal pianist or accompanist should have no trouble - expect a lot of stride piano in the left hand, and some jumps of more than an octave in the right hand. Arrangement - Excellent, and then some. I have seen piano reductions of this song and others, and they sometimes have a habit of not including some of the secondary rhythms and parts. The arranger more or less took the orchestral version and put the entire thing into a piano arrangement and removed some of the octave doublings to make it playable. Definitely the best show tunes piece I’ve bought from Musicnotes.com Accuracy - The lyrics were 100% accurate to the musical, and the piano reduction featured almost the entire orchestral score in piano form. I have a copy of the full orchestral version of this piece and compared this copy to both the full score and the versions in the movie and cast recording, and every part was present within reason. The only way you could get a performance with this score that is closer to the version in the musical is to perform it with an actual orchestra.
