Much maligned "EZ-Play"
5/22/2015 7:03:23 PMI purchased this in the "Beginner" style (also called "EZ-play") notation. Ive seen comments that complain about this notation, but usually from those who do not fully understand what it is. Im well past the need for "beginner" music -- but for aging eyes, the very large notation is easy to read, even without reading glasses. Personally, I prefer "lead sheets" for most popular music -- and the "beginner notes" is, indeed, a lead sheet (right hand in notation, bass given as script chords). If a "true" lead sheet format of a particular piece of music isnt available, then the "beginner notes" can be a decent substitute. The only complaint is that openings (lead in) are almost never transcribed into this format ... but since I play a rather sophisticated keyboard (Yamaha Tyros) that includes a multitude of styles with pre-written lead ins, its not a serious issue for me.
