Traditional hymn from theme from "Finlandia"
3/13/2015 6:30:32 PMApparently, there are a LOT of songs with this title, but this is the one that will be in a lot of church hymnals. The Musicnotes edition is effective because it is not overly elaborate. The piano part DOES contain the melody--and singers who want to improvise a group sing with harmony parts can also pick out notes from the accompaniment to do this. The original melody is taken from Jean Sibelius symphonic poem "Finlandia, Op. 26". There are several different sets of lyrics depending on which version youre familiar with, so go by the title listed. Usually that will indicate which version youre dealing with. As it is, sung simply and sincerely, a very moving song.
