Repeat signs-convenient for publishers not musicians
11/6/2010 12:43:40 PMThis is the first piece of published sheet music I have purchased in a while. I generally prefer to transcribe pieces myself because it helps to keep my ear trained, and also I am able to annotate every detail. The one gripe I have, and this is with published sheet music in general, is with repeated sections like a second verse or the chorus. This leaves you with sections of music that are never transcribed because of the repeat signs. I understand that this may help to keep the page count down. Which would not be a big deal if all we were talking about were fake books. But when I pay for the convenience of a published sheet of music, it become an inconvenience when I still have to personally transcribe the parts that come after the repeat sign. In regard to the subject piece, the accuracy of what was transcribed is perfect but the quality suffered because now I am tasked with finishing the job.
