The best bet if youre unsure (which is highly likely with this tune)
3/31/2011 9:48:34 PMIm seeing different arrangements of the tune delegated to the same Tony Bennett Book, including one that omits the verse--which is in the pictured book. Also, theres confusion about keys because the verse is in C, but the chorus begins and ends in G. And worse, there are discrepancies about claims concerning the "original" key as well as the part of the song that is selected to represent the key (some descriptions go with the verse; others with the chorus). This version can be recommended because Tony generally sings it in this key (C to G) and it has the indispensable (imo) verse (Mandel is the best composer-arranger alive, inheriting the mantle once worn by Nelson Riddle. So rest assured that Musicnotes is usually good about giving you a second chance, if youre led up the wrong path. At the moment Im disappointed not to find a version beginning in Db and ending in Ab, which would be half a step up from this one--just enough higher to make it easier for some tenor voices to reach the lower notes. (A is no consolation if youre a jazz player, who prefer flats to sharps any day--but for most guitar players A probably looks a whole lot better than Ab and Db.

A D-flat transposition would be welcome. The pianists with whom I work are generally all right with a handful of black keys. Vocally, its very agreeable key for this song.
